Mark T. Duffy is an interdisciplinary artist living in Oakland, Ca.  His work in painting, photography, and printmaking expresses an interest in understanding how power and authority affect society. Through figuration he examines the point of ambivalence at the intersection of race, class, gender and power structures.   His practice makes expression primary, followed by conceptual and narrative concerns, using chance and improvisation; a process that subverts thinking as it operates, in order to contend with the apparent impossibility of news forms.  He has exhibited at SFMOMA Library and the non-profit artist-run space Slash, in San Francisco, CA. In 2024 he completed a residency at Yaddo in New York. He is currently a UC Berkeley Art Practice MFA candidate (2027).
